Benefit They're Real Review (Mascara & Liner)

So I got really excited last night looking at everyone's pictures from the Benefit Ireland event and it inspired me to do this post! Everyone knows about Benefit's They're Real mascara, it is raved about and has been since its release. Last Summer they also added a They're Real push-up gel liner to the range, and the They're Real remover to take off this powerful stuff. Now, Benefit are releasing the mascaras and liners - IN COLOUR. I am honestly so excited for this particularly the liners, which will be available in purple, blue, green and brown as well as the usual black. 

So why am I so excited? I got the They're Real liner on its release date last year, I was even on the waiting list for it in Brown Thomas. And it didn't disappoint. It is the easiest liner to use, it comes in an eyeliner pen with an angled tip that fits perfectly around the curves of the eye. The product comes sealed with a little tab in the nib of the pen, so you pull that off and twist the bottom of the pen to push up the liner itself. Now I must admit I found this part difficult to manage at first. It takes patience and practice in the beginning, because if you don't twist it enough nothing comes out, but if you twist it too much it vomits out eyeliner. It's pretty tragic when that happens because all that beautiful product is gone to waste! I think I have mastered the art of twisting now though, and I would recommend that a little goes a long way! Don't over-twist.

When you do get your pen up and running, it glides onto the eyes seamlessly. One layer is all it needs for an intense black line. I suppose if you're going for a natural look this wouldn't be your best bet, but for me it's perfect as I refuse to leave the house without my eyeliner! Now with some liquid liners that are this intensely black, I tend to get a lot of rub-off on my lids and I end up with more of a smokey eye than a perfect liner look. And by the end of the day there's not even any liner left! But this one literally sets in a few seconds and stays put for the day. I have finished one of these already and bought my second last month, it lasted me about 6 months of almost daily use. At €25 a pop I think that's great value! This is literally my holy grail eyeliner and I wouldn't use anything else. The thoughts of it in green and purple is almost too much to handle!

The They're Real mascara is a new favourite of mine. I've had a travel size one for a few months now, but it's been in my makeup drawer unopened. I always loved Benefit's Bad Gal Lash mascara, finding it to give great volume, so for some reason I never bothered with They're Real. The brush is a bit scary, it's very spiky, but it is genius. I started using it recently and I am wondering where it's been all my life! I have horribly straight, thin lashes naturally, and this mascara curls them and brings them to life. It really does give a false lash effect, and my lashes appear bigger, more curled, blacker and just better in every way when I use this. With other mascaras, even when they claim to be waterproof, I find that as the day goes on and I blink more - I get horrible black smudges under my eyes that I have to check up on and wipe constantly. This isn't the case with They're Real, once it's on your lashes it's actually pretty impossible to get off. There's no rub-off and my lashes stay upright all day

I've been using both of the They're Real products together recently for my daily makeup look and I am loving it. You can see the mascara more on my left eye in the picture, it just defines the lashes beautifully. Both of these products are low-maintenance and I know that when I'm wearing them, they'll stay where they are supposed to and I don't have to worry about panda eyes. 

I know these products have been mega-famous for ages but I've actually been speaking to people lately who have never tried them! So I hope this post was helpful. I personally cannot wait to get my hands on some of the coloured versions and when I do you can expect to see them here!
