Lipstick of the Week 💄

Soo hi my name is Caoimhe and I am a lipstick-aholic. Lipsticks are my absolute favourite beauty product, it is my life goal to some day own all of the Mac lipstick shades ever made. So I wanted to do a feature every week on my blog to celebrate one lipstick that I particularly enjoyed that week! Strangely enough, this weeks lipstick is NOT a Mac lipstick. It is.... *drum roll*.. A Nyx matte lipstick in the shade Maison.

So here's a selfie of me wearing Maison, it's a brown/gray colour and I am obsessed with it. I've always been a brown lipstick fan, even though it's not for everyone. But, this week, my main gal Kylie Jenner uploaded an Instagram picture rocking the brown lip! So, I have a feeling it's about to become a lot more popular.

I have a few brown lipsticks but Maison is the only one that is available full-time. I -also have two Mac limited edition brown lipsticks. One is Styled in Sepia, this was released last autumn as part of the Matte lip collection and people went crazy for it. It's now selling on eBay for crazy prices like €50, but Nyx Maison is an exact dupe! The other is Exclusive Event, an LE lipstick from the Christmas 2013 Divine Night collection. This one is a satin finish, so it finishes a bit different and a bit lighter than Maison and Styled in Sepia, but they are all still really similar.

In the photo above, the lipsticks are L-R: Maison, Styled in Sepia, Exclusive event and the lip pencil that I use with these colours which is a Rimmel Lasting Finish lip pencil in the shade Cappucino. As you can see there's basically no difference between the first two! So if you missed out on Styled in Sepia, pick up Maison for the exact same look. The qualities of these lipsticks are also pretty similar, the Mac one is slightly more matte feeling on the lips and hence is a bit more drying. The Nyx one is matte but still creamy and hydrating. Neither of these lipsticks last terribly long, I think because the colour is so unnatural, your natural lip colour is just really apparent as soon as it begins to wear off. Both of them lasted with completely opaque colour coverage for 1-2 hours before re-applying. 

So if you want to go for the brown lip look I really recommend picking up Maison! At just €7.49 it's a bargain for such a gorgeous colour and great quality. I rock my brown lipstick with red eyeshadow a la Frances Bean Cobain, for days when I feel like being a bit grunge!
