SOSU by Suzanne Jackson Review

Hey guys!
So today I'm going to be reviewing SoSu nail polishes by Suzanne Jackson, author of super famous style blog SoSueMe. If you haven't heard of her, check her out she's an inspiration for aspiring bloggers and for all us Irish ladies too.
Before buying my nail polishes I had heard mixed reviews, with some raving about them and others saying they chipped after one day. I was a bit sceptical, but I figured it was something I'd have to find out for myself.

There is a bit of confusion when it comes to where is stocking these nail polishes, I'm from a small town in Offaly and as of yet I haven't heard of any of our 4 (yes 4) local pharmacies stocking SoSu. Luckily, I was in Athlone this weekend and this is where my nearest Penneys is located. Unfortunately Penneys in Athlone had not yet gotten in their stock, though this may have changed by now. I was a little disappointed that they didn't have them, but picked up a few other beauty bits instead you know just coz. Any who later that day I was in the new shopping centre in Athlone, anyone from the Midlands will know it. I decided to pop into McGorisks pharmacy to have a look at the Nyx products, and low and behold there was a sneaky SoSu stand! This was early Saturday morning and although the polishes had only been on sale since Friday, they were pretty much sold out. They had 7 shades left, two of those being base and top coats! Despite this, I couldn't leave the shop without at least one so I picked up 'Who's the Boss?' - dark burgundy and 'Cast a Spell' - bright purple, similar to Mac's Heroine. On a side note my experience in McGorisks pharmacy was an absolutely stellar one. Their makeup selection was really impressive, stocking brands that are harder to find in the Midlands such as Mememe, Nyx, W7 and EstΓ©e Lauder. The cute old man behind the counter was also happy to answer my questions about re-stocking the polishes and gave me a euro off my purchase! I will be returning there ASAP and I recommend that anyone in the area give it a visit as well!

So as soon as I got home on Saturday I couldn't wait to try these out. I must tell you that my nails are in quite bad condition at the moment, I get very anxious and take it out on my nails - a habit I'm trying to break, so photos of my nails will be minimal. I didn't use a base or a top coat because I wanted to see how these did on their own first!

So I took this picture after one coat, before I cleaned up my cuticles and applied another. As you can see the shade is beautiful and the finish is super glossy. These polishes are supposed to be like a gel finish without the lamp, and they do finish similarly to gel nails, I imagine with the glossy top coat they would be even more impressive.

The polish wore well for four days, the picture above shows the end of the fourth day and sadly they've been deteriorating all day. Today was the only day out of the four that I've been in work, so they were tested a bit more I suppose. Overall I was impressed with this nail varnish. I loved the colour and the finish, the packaging is beautiful and the colour selection is gorgeous too. The brush could have been stiffer, it was a bit floppy and flooded with product easily which then meant the nails could become flooded too. In some reviews I read people were also complaining about the price, one polish is €7.99 or €7.70 in Penneys. I do think they are worth it, the polish itself is good quality and I don't feel like it's going to damage or stain my nails like some cheaper formulas. I will 100% purchase more of these, the colours and rose-gold packaging is just incredibly appealing to me and I have my eye on quite a few of the other shades.

I hope you enjoyed this review and found it helpful! As of now I know that Penneys on Henry street has full stock of the SoSu range and they're also available at Sam McAuley chemists online which is super handy! Thanks a lot for reading,

Caoimhe x
