Coco White UK (Oil-Pulling/Teeth Whitening) Review

Hey guys!
So last night I finished an oil-pulling course by Coco White and I wanted to explain a bit about it and show you guys my results! I actually saw a few people last night asking about oil-pulling, so hopefully this post will help out those who are confused about it or want to know if it really works!

So I first heard about Coco White and oil-pulling itself on Instagram. I'm a sucker for Instagram health-related fads and so have tried countless 'teatox' diets, supplements etc. and now this! You will probably have seen them on Instagram already, as there is an endless list of celebrities promoting this product such as the TOWIE cast, Scott Dissick and even my main gal Kylie Jenner. I had been wanting to get my teeth whitened for a while now; I don't know if it's because we Irish people drink so much tea, or just because I'm getting older that my teeth had become quite discoloured and just yellow lately. It was bothering me because it was even influencing my lipstick choices, lipsticks with warm undertones (such as oranges and corals), and mega bright lipsticks such as Macs Saint Germain, highlight yellow teeth and it just looks disgusting. Getting your teeth whitened professionally in a dentists or salon ain't cheap, so when I came across this brand on Instagram I was really intrigued and decided to give it a go.

You get 10% off your first order at Coco White so it came to about £17.99 I think not including postage, altogether the kit itself and postage to Ireland came to about €34. It arrived promptly within two business days by courier, so I was extremely impressed. I must tell you that in the past two weeks I've upgraded from an iPhone 4S to a 5S, so unfortunately I don't have a 'Before' photo. But you can take my word for it, my teeth were yellow.

So you get 14 sachets of what is ultimately formulated coconut oil with flavouring in a cute, neat little box. I've seen a lot of people commenting that just buying coconut oil in the supermarket etc and swirling with it would be the same thing and much cheaper. In theory this is true but I would still recommend Coco White for two reasons:
1. Portion size and guidelines - how much coconut oil from a regular jar would you use for swirling? For how long? How would you melt it down effectively? Coco White provide perfect portion sizes of specially formulated coconut oil that melts easily in the palm of your hand or instantly in your mouth. They also provide to a of guidelines on their website and on the box to help you along. I think particularly if it's your first time trying oil-pulling, a kit like this one is extremely beneficial and it makes it easy and fun.
2. The taste - On my first night of this course I have to admit I gagged several time with this in my mouth. It is quite a lot of oil and between the texture of the oil itself and the sheer amount of oil in your mouth, it is sickening at first and certainly not a sensation that feels natural. It's not horrible but just unnatural I think. Coco White provides the oil in 3 flavours (Mint, lemon and vanilla) and this makes it a bit more palatable. If I had to swirl raw, unflavoured oil I don't think I'd be able to get through it.

They recommend on the package that you swirl the oil for 5-15 minutes before brushing your teeth at night time. I usually swirled for about 8 minutes, sometimes less and sometimes more. I also swirled after brushing a few times when I forgot, but I don't think this hindered my results. The oil is solid in the sachet but if you leave it out in a warm room or hold it in your hand it melts quickly, or alternatively you can stick it in your mouth solid and let it melt that way. I got the mint flavour and the flavouring was subtle but pleasant, it certainly made the texture of the oil more appealing.

Overall I found the whole oil-pulling experience to be enjoyable and to show great results. I have actually been cutting two wisdom teeth the past week and the swirling at night has helped to soothe that as well as whitening my teeth! Oil-pulling is actually an ancient technique used for removing toxins from the whole body, but particularly the mouth. It is said to promote outstanding oral health and I agree with this. My mouth felt cleansed and clean and now that I'm finished the course, I will miss this part of my nightly routine.

Now for the important bit... Did it actually whiten my teeth? Above is a picture of me this morning having finished my course last night! I'm thrilled with the results to be honest. There is still some discolouration on a few of my bottom teeth but overall my teeth are much whiter and shinier than before. I am definitely going to keep oil-pulling up, because if these are my results after two weeks of 8 minutes a night, I imagine the results further down the line will be even more impressive.

Thanks so much for reading, I hope some of you found this helpful! Let me know some of your opinions on oil-pulling.
